Questions

Questions clients ask

Short answers to the questions we hear most. For advice on your own case, contact the chamber.

What should I bring to the first meeting?

Your CNIC, every paper connected to the matter (agreements, receipts, FIR, notices, previous court orders) and the next hearing date if a case is already pending. Bring copies; keep the originals with you.

How will I know my next hearing date?

After every hearing we send you a WhatsApp message with what happened, the next date and the stage of the case. District court cases can also be checked online through the case's CMS number on the Punjab district judiciary website.

Do you take cases outside Multan?

Yes. The firm takes cases all over Pakistan, from trial courts to the High Courts and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Our team appears regularly in Multan, Lahore, Vehari and Melsi, and before the Customs Appellate Tribunal.

My vehicle or goods were seized by Customs. What can be done?

The seizure is first contested before the adjudicating Collector. An order against you can be appealed to the Customs Appellate Tribunal, and a question of law from the Tribunal can go to the High Court by way of a customs reference. Time limits are short, so contact us as soon as the seizure is made.

A bank has filed a recovery suit against me. Is there a deadline?

Yes. Under the Financial Institutions (Recovery of Finances) Ordinance 2001, an application for leave to defend must be filed within 30 days of service of summons. If it is not filed in time, the Banking Court can pass a decree. Bring the summons to us immediately.

What is pre-arrest bail?

It is protection from arrest granted by the court before a person is arrested in a criminal case, usually where the case appears to be motivated by malice or ill will. The application is made to the Sessions Court or the High Court, and the accused must appear in person.

How are fees settled?

Fees and the scope of work are agreed at the start, before anything is filed, so there are no surprises later.
